  • Heard nothing but grade A reviews about these babies! I’ve been wearing the Smashbox BB cream for the past three days now and I’m really impressed. The Too Faced La Creme Lipstick is in Spice Spice Baby, and the blush is Tarte Amazonian clay in Peaceful. It may be my new favorite!

Flawless Concealer Brush $3

I AM HEAD OVER HEELS IN LOOOOVE WITH THIS BRUSH! If you thought the MAC 217 or Sigma E25 was perfect for blending under eye concealer, you NEED to get this brush pronto. It works ten times better. I think it’s because of it’s flat-rounded top that makes it work so well. It’s pretty dense, the bristles are nicely packed together so you do get a full coverage finish and no streakiness at all!
Flat Eyeliner Brush $3

I used this for applying gel liner. I can’t say it works better than an angled brush, obviously. But it does give me a precise line. The bristles are very soft and flexible. It can also be perfect for shaping eyebrows with concealer. Excellent quality for $3.
Baked Bronzer in Maui $3

Not impressed with this bronzer. With a few swirls of this on my finger, it still didn’t give me the exact pigmentation I was hoping for. It does, however, make a great all over bronzing powder for light to medium skin tones. This is a bit light for me, but nonetheless it still shows up if I really pack on the color.  I don’t know if this was worth the $3 for me.
Volumizing Mascara  in Black $2

It’s hard to have a firm opinion on this mascara yet since I’ve only used it twice. I usually like to wait a while for the mascara to dry a bit so it becomes more waxy; my lashes do better with drier formulas. But so far, it isn’t bad! Not clumpy at all, very black, gives great volume. My only problem is that it doesn’t thicken a lot. I need to apply several layers on before I get my desired look and length. I’m gonna wear this more often and see how it does. I recommend this for people with longer lashes. Does a great job at volumizing.
Conditioning Lip Balm SPF 15 in Peaceful Pink $3

I’ve used the one in Romantic Rouge - I love that one because of how it kind of stains my lips with a deep rosy color. This one in particular doesn’t give that same effect whereas it stains my lips. But it IS really pretty when applied initially and does act like a balm. The color faded within 3-4 hours. Smells like vanilla!

All products and brushes used. Flat eyeliner brush for eyeliner, flawless concealer brush for blending under eye concealer, lip balm, bronzer, one layer of mascara and clear coat of brow gel.

  • I'm curious to try the newer L'Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Mascara. I've tried the L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes one and absolutely love it. Which do you prefer?
    Anonymous

Ahhhh ok, I love both equally but only for certain reasons! They both give the same effect to my lashes BUT under these circumstances:

    • the False Fiber mascara has a sucky brush/wand, so you have to be very diligent when applying because it can clump.
    • the Million Lashes mascara’s brush is PERFECT but the formula of the mascara needs to dry out a little before it can give my lashes the full effect that I WANT it to have, meaning it has to hold my curl and lengthen also.

So at first use, I would use my False Fiber one just because the Million Lashes would take a while to use before it starts giving better results. In the long run I’d prefer the Million Lashes just because the brush is perfect and never gives me any problems! :D

  • Hey Shannon. I have a quick question. Target has maybelline ny mascara on sale and I happen to have coupons for them so I was wondering which maybelline ny mascara would you recommend in getting/trying out? Falsies, falsies flared, black drama, illegal length, etc. washable, waterproof?
    Anonymous

Everyone has different eyelashes, so it really depends on what you’re looking for in a mascara.

If you need a lot more length, and a curl to last all day, get Falsies in Waterproof. People have mixed reviews about this one but personally for me, it works wonders and it’s most definitely one of my top faves. I have short and sparse lashes. And since it’s waterproof you have to take it off with an oil-based makeup remover, but I just use extra virgin olive oil.

If you need more length than volume, get Illegal Lengths. This mascara does a great job at JUST making your lashes a lot longer. Other than that, it does nothing for thickening or volumizing. It’s also a great bottom lash mascara! I just wish the color was more pigmented because the “Blackest Black” doesn’t  match up to its name.

If you have already a lot of full, long lashes and just need something to separate and hold its curl all day, I would get One by One in waterproof. This is very buildable.

If you already have long lashes but need a bit more thickness and volume, try the Colossal! A couple coats of this will definitely make them seem more full. The only thing I hate is the smell, and you have to be careful with how much product you get on the brush or else it can get clumpy.. but some girls like the clumpy look lol.

    I hoped this helps!!

  • everytime i try to apply mascara to my bottom lashes, i end up looking like a racoon or panda. any suggestions or tips/tricks for applying? & is it necessary to use two different mascaras for your top and bottom lashes?
    Anonymous

One thing I like to do when applying mascara to my lower lashes is to use just the tip of the wand and swiping it left to right just on the tips of the lashes. This way, you won’t get too much on the root of the lashes where they’re closest to the waterline and can easily get wet and smear. Another tip is to use a business card behind your lashes when applying mascara to shield your skin from any mistakes you may make!

I personally prefer to use a different mascara for my top and bottom lashes because not all mascaras are meant for bottom lashes, just the top. Like for example, I can never use my HG mascara CoverGirl Lash Blast because the wand is just so freaking thick and made of plastic so the lower lashes might not grab on to it as it would with a normal traditional brush. My fave one that I use ALL the time for my bottom lashes is Rimmel Lash Accelerator. It’s lasted me forever! I like the shape of the wand because its fatter in the middle and skinny at the tip. I use either the tip or the middle to coat my lashes :) I know Clinique has a mascara specifically for lower lashes and Maybelline (I think) has one called Lash Discovery that’s super tiny too for lower lashes!
