MY THOUGHTS ON EACH LIPSTICK..
I might be a little late on this.. but I just discovered that Garnier put out a NEW (?) BB Cream for combo/oily skin! I’ve only heard three people (both from the UK) talk about it so I’m not sure whether or not this has been released in the US yet because no one so far has done reviews on them nor are they hyped about yet.
Has anyone seen these in US drugstores yet? I’m really intrigued to try it out. I wasn’t so keen on the original one for all skin types so this is really exciting to hear about haha.
The reviews I’ve heard so far are really good. Just a brief summary of what I’ve heard: Coverage is light - medium but buildable, has a runny formula so it feels really light, has a smell similar to Revlon ColorStay liquid foundation but it evaporates within ten minutes of application, matte, good staying power, and only available in two shades.
If you have this, let me know how it worked for you!
Gel eyeliner’s are relatively new on the beauty scene but they have quickly become a favourite by makeup lovers world wide and there is no surprise why; unlike pencils and shadows which are prone to smudging and unlike liquid which can run everywhere gel eyeliner’s are unique. It can feel like there are hundreds, thousands even of different gel eyeliners out there so it can be difficult to know which one is best, previously you had to pay top dollar for gel eyeliners but now affordable drugstore brands are jumping on the bandwagon; even brands such as Essence.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t blatantly disappointed when I’d seen an advertising campaign for a gel eyeliner where it looked super creamy and light as air, because most of the time I’d purchase the product to try and it would be dry or more like a thick cream, it was becoming to seem impossible to find a gel eyeliner which was well actually a gel.
That’s why when I tried this Essence gel eyeliner I was more impressed then I think I ever had been. Not hundreds of fancy claims and campaigns just a simple gel eyeliner labeled as ‘high precision and waterproof’. Previously I was beginning to think that I’d only ever love my Stila Smudge pots when it came to gel eyeliners but I was wrong and this Essence gel eyeliner has certainly pleased me.
Unlike other gel eyeliner’s this product really is a gel, it’s super creamy and has a smooth air whipped formula which glides over the skin with ease rather then tugging on the skin like how most so called gel eyeliners do. The formula isn’t thick or clumpy and you only need the smallest amount of product to achieve your desired result.
I can say with comfort that one of the most common issues people have with eyeliners in general is smudging and not being waterproof despite the brands claims, it’s probably the most common question that I receive out of all but to be perfectly honest I wasn’t expecting this product to be anywhere near waterproof but geez was I wrong! This product has got to be the longest lasting gel eyeliner I have tried. Once dry this gel eyeliner stays put, and I mean STAYS put I feel like I could shower with this product on and it still wouldn’t budge! It withstands smudging super well even on my oily eyelids so when I’m rocking a cat eye I don’t need to clean out my crease every few hours.
With this gel eyeliner it really is easy to control the amount of product you would like from precision to rocker chic this gel eyeliner is great for both looks. I love a good cat eye just as much as the next person and if I had it my way I’d probably be sporting one everyday and this gel eyeliner makes it so easy to achieve a precise clean cat eye while also been fantastic for a natural thin everyday eyeliner look or a smokey eye.
I feel it really is worth mentioning the pigmentation factor with these gel eyeliners; they are super pigmented so what you see is what you get rather then a very sheer wash of colour these gel eyeliner’s have extreme pigmentation
With most gel eyeliners I have a problem where I purchase them and several weeks later they dry out and become difficult to use but this gel eyeliner has maintained it’s freshness for good period of time (tip: try storing your gel eyeliner’s upside down to prevent them drying out!)
Last but not least I couldn’t go without mentioning the affordability, with all the great points in this gel eyeliner you’d probably think it would cost a fortune but not at all. This gel eyeliner is possibly the most affordable on the market and at $3 to $5 for the high quality who can complain?
My only complaint is I wish there were a broader range of colours to choose from!
With Essence Gel Eyeliner; what you see is what you get.
Yes yes yes! Exactly why it’s my favorite gel liner! ^_^

Two brands: Revlon & Urban Decay
Revlon ColorStay Creme Gel Eyeliner

Packaging is unique. Comes with a brush that I don’t really care to use, but it works. The opening of the jar w/ the product inside is really small compared to a normal one. I’d say the size of a dime. For staying power, this lasts a long time. Pigmentation isn’t too great though; I find you have to really build it up and one swipe isn’t enough. It’s nice and creamy which I like; not too drying either. I’d rather stick to my Wet N Wild creme liner for less than half the price of this.
Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss

My favorite lip glosses of all time. Pigmentation, color selection, texture, packaging and staying power are all on point. Nothing bad to say about them :) My top favorites are Coral Reef, Nude Lustre, and Pink Pop.
Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Perversion

Absolutely love this liquid eyeliner. It’s by far the most pigmented black liquid eyeliner I own. It’s waterproof; I’ve worn this while crying and it didn’t budge. The only thing I’m not really fond of is the tiny brush. It’s probably as thin as like seven strands of hair. Takes a while to build product on your lid because of that, but otherwise this is a great product and worth its price.
Urban Decay eyeshadow in YDK

YDK is one of my all time favorite eyeshadow shades in general. You can find it in the Naked 2 palette and can also buy it as an individual shadow. All of UD’s shadows in general are excellent. But this particular shade is just absolutely gorgeous and stands out so much to me. I’d describe it as a rose gold taupe.
This pencil is something that I haven’t really seen… it’s a glossy black eyeliner. I thought that it was kind of a cool product idea so I picked it up.
The thin line in the swatch is just one pass and the thick one is several to emphasize the glossy finish.
I like the idea of this eyeliner, the unusual finish, and I like that it is so pigmented, but I’m going to shoot straight with you: the formula needs a lot of improvement!
This liner glides on pretty easily leaving a pretty decent trail of glossy black behind it, but I did notice that it was a bit of a pain to use on the lower lash line since the liner was geting caught up in my lower lashes (in fact this liner proved to be a real hassle on the lower lashes, but I’ll get into that later). The pigmentation is fantastic so hooray for that!
As for the staying power on this… it’s pretty tricky. I didn’t notice any fading at all, however (due to the slick formula which causes the finish) this is definitely one of those migrating eyeliners so use on the lower lash line isn’t a great idea (although it is safe on the top). Another fault this liner has because of the formula is the fact that it doesn’t ever set so if you touch or rub the liner it will smudge like none other! That being said, it does make an excellent smudging liner, but I recommend staying away from the lower lash line on that one as well.
Oh, one other thing that is just me being a nit picker more than anything: I don’t like pencil eyeliners because you lose a lot of product sharpening them.
Price: $1.49
Size: 0.03oz
Where to buy: ULTA, Fred Meyer, Shoppers Drug Mart
Color:
- Deep glossy black
Pros:
- Great pigmentation
- Fun, glossy finish
- Smooth application (with the exception of the lower lash line)
- Doesn’t fade
Cons:
- Never sets
- Smudges if rubbed
- Melts on the lower lash line
- Application gets messy on the lower lash line
This is a really cool, pigmented, cheap liner with a unique and interesting finish… but only as long as you don’t touch it or apply it to your lower lash line which to me really drags down the rating. I really like this liner… well, I really like the concept, but the formula needs a lot of work.

Review: theBalm Balm Shelter Tinted Moisturizer SPF 18 in Medium
Price: $25 (thebalm.com, sephora.com). I got mine on Hautelook when they had their sale.
Weight: 2.15 fl oz
Claims: “Designed for all skin types. This weightless, silky smooth tinted moisturizer SPF 18 offers lasting moisture and helps to improve tone and texture of your skin, leaving you with a polished complexion.”
Coverage: Does a great job at evening out skin tone, and I find that out of all of the TMs I have, this one probably has the most coverage. You can still very much see acne spots after application, but it does even out redness which I love! And surprisingly, a little goes a long way.
Texture: A thick cream. Not runny at all like Sonia Kashuk’s TM. Really easy to work with and super blendable. Feels really refreshing on the skin actually.
Finish: I absolutely love the finish of this! Looks so natural. Not greasy looking at all after application..
Staying power: Stays on for at least a good six - seven hours if set with a powder and primer is underneath. Haven’t tried it on it’s own without a primer and/or setting powder.
Fragrance: Has a really subtle floral scent if you smell really closely after blending. But the scent goes away after a couple minutes.
Color: Although this is the closest shade to my skin color, I wish they made a shade that’s slightly lighter than this just because after while, it oxidizes darker than when initially applied. That, I don’t like. People have told me that they noticed I looked a bit tanner each time I wore this. It’s also a bit too beige/cool toned but it’s not a big deal since it blends out to match me pretty well. I wish they made one made for more olive toned people like me (NC40) so I wouldn’t have to worry about the color. Sonia Kashuk’s TM in Tan matches me a lot better.

Review: NYX Retractable Lip Liner
Shades shown: Jewel, Peony, Citrus, Nude Pink, Red
Price: $4.50 MSRP
Weight: 0.31 g
Where to buy: Ulta, nyxcosmetics.com, cherryculture.com. I got these five on Hautelook for the price of only two.
I absolutely love these!! Since you don’t need a pointy tip to apply lip liners these retractable ones are perfect. First off, the packaging is great. The colors on the lips are true to the colors on the packaging. They glide on smooth and give amazing pigmentation. You could use them as not only a lip liner but a lip color with a bit of balm over it since they are rather drying, as all lip liners are. They have a wide color selection (I believe there are about 20 or so) which give you the nudest color, to pinks, to mauves, to berries, to browns, to even a black! Some of them give off a kind of pearl finish (like the top three shown) and they have gorgeous matte ones too (like the two bottom shown). Some shades won’t match to every skin color or tone, but at least there’s a ton of other shades to choose from. They last all day, and they’re waterproof! Can’t get a better deal.

Cons: None!

Review: Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream
Price: $12.99 MSRP (prices vary)
Weight: 2.5 fl oz (more than double the amount of a normal foundation)
Claims from Garnier’s website: “…immediately and effectively fullfills your skincare expectations with just one multi-benefit product that combines intense moisturizing skincare + immediate skin perfecting coverage for skin that looks naturally more even, radiant and smooth.”
Active Ingredient: 4% Octinoxate (UVA/UVB sunscreen!)
My skin type: Combination (dry in some areas and oily on my t-zone)
Consistency: Thick and creamy.
Smell: After blending it into the skin it leaves this strong floral/fresh kind of scent. I really like it but some people might not.
Application: I squeeze out about a pea size of it on the back of my hand and apply it with either my fingers or a basic foundation brush (which actually does a great job at spreading the product). You have a bit of downtime to blend the product into your skin really well. I counted to about 20 seconds before it really settled into my skin.
Finish: At initial application you will notice that once it’s blended it leaves a really shiny, almost greasy looking finish. It kind of scared me how shiny it was at first but I gave it some time and the shininess goes away a little. (Keep in mind that this is a BB cream, not a foundation. BB creams are an “all in one” product acting as a primer, foundation, moisturizer, and has a high SPF and anti-wrinkle agents). The coverage obviously is not a lot but it is sheer. It evens out my skin tone really well and actually does give a nice natural finish once you set it with a powder. Keep in mind that you have to make sure the powder you use does absorb oil and does well with oily skin. And speaking of skin tone, for reference my skin color is around an NC40. This BB cream comes off more cool toned in the packaging but actually blends out to match me better than I’d thought it would. It also brightens and freshens up my complexion, and doesn’t dry out my skin. It actually adds a bit of moisture to it and after applying it feels as if my skin just drinks it up :)

I only have 2 out of the 3 new Color Icon bronzers Wet n Wild has recently released and let me tell you that I am DYING to get my paws on the third (Ticket To Brazil)!
Reserve Your Cabana (I wouldn’t really consider this a bronzer… it’s more of a skin toned illuminzer for medium skin tones)
Bikini Contest
Where do I start with these… how about: They’re AMAZING!? Wet n Wild never ceases to amaze me with their cheap and fantastic items. First off, the texture on these is so luxurious. They are so ridiculously smooth and finely milled that I was surprised when I first swatched them. The color payoff is so rich and gorgeous with these! They’re not so much shimmery as they are radiant and glowing. Although they do create some fallout in the pan, that doesn’t transfer to the face and I noticed no powdery appearance (this formula is so awesome). This product also has SPF 15 in it, so hooray for skin protection (just remember to wear a moisturizer with SPF as well). Both shades look very natural (meaning no weird orange tone) and blend easily.
The only gripe I have here is the usual packaging flaw. The pans are huge (which is awesome, mind you, since you’re getting a decent amount of product), but the packaging has a little extra bulk that I think they could have done without. Due to the bumped out lid and the large pan this isn’t the most travel friendly bronzer.
Price: $3.99
Size: 0.46 oz
Where to buy: I’ve only seen them at Wal Marts and Walgreens so far but they might pop up in other drugstores
Colors:
- Reserve Your Cabana: A light shimmery gold
- Bikini Contest: A warm shimmery cocoa
Pros:
- EXCELLENT formula
- Doesn’t look unnatural
- Doesn’t look powdery
- Easily blended
- Great color payoff
- Glowy, not glittery
Cons:
- Bulky packaging
- Reserve Your Cabana can settle in to fine lines
I NEED the third one! I’m totally sold on these. Two thumbs WAY WAY up!
Overall Rating: 10/10
THANK YOU FOR THIS! <3
Sure! :)
Pros: Extremely longwearing, medium-full coverage, flawless finish, matte, SPF 6, controls my oiliness all day, camera-friendly, wide range of shades
Cons: Super strong horrible scent (smells like chemicals when in the bottle but when you apply it that goes away), bad packaging (no pump)
As far as comparison I wouldn’t say that it’s similar to Neutrogena but I do really like them both equally. Neutrogena is more wearable for everyday because of how light and breathable it feels on your face. It still gives coverage but it isn’t as much as Revlon. It gives a nice healthy look. Neutrogena’s is water based and better for the skin whereas Revlon I would only use for special occasion, not day to day.

Yes, they are pigmented. But you might have to build the color up depending on which shade you get and how deep your skin tone is. To my surprise they weren’t chalky at all either; the texture is really smooth and they blend quite nicely! I have three in Truth or Dare, Skinny Dipping and Spicy & Sweet. Truth or Dare is meant for light skinned people; the bronzer won’t do any justice on my tan skin but give it a nice sheen but the color is definitely there, and the blush is a soft baby pink. Skinny Dipping is a straight up coral orange blush. I adore the color. It also gives a nice sheen. Spicy & Sweet is my fave just because the color shows up the best and seems to wear a long time. I swirl the colors together and it creates a gorgeous deep rosy shade.
I’ve only ever tried one blush from Physicians Formula and it’s their Happy Booster Natural. It’s one of my go-to blushes whenever I don’t feel like going through my collection. Really pigmented and lives up to its name; it really gives a “natural” flush to the cheeks!

Maybelline Fit Me Blushes
As much as I am in love the majority of other Maybelline products, dear Lord these blushes are just horrible. I have only tried one and don’t plan on ever buying any more of these. Based on watching and reading a ton of reviews of other colors they all seem to give off the same pigmentation and quality (which it has none of).
Don’t be fooled by how pigmented they look. It’s a gimmick. The texture of these is so hard that make it impossible to pick up any product so you literally have to almost scrape off a ton of color to get it to even show up as a blush on your skin… but that itself doesn’t even work! It’s horrible. No pigmentation whatsoever. The medium colors don’t even work for medium skin.. and although I’m pretty tan (NC40) the ones meant for my skin tone didn’t even show up at all. Unless you’re extremely pale skinned I’d say you’d be better off buying their Dream Mousse blushes instead (or any other drugstore blush, really).

Wet N Wild Eye Makeup Remover
Worst eye makeup remover ever. The only reason why I bought this was because it was cheap and I love almost all of Wet N Wild’s products so I wanted to give this a shot. I should have read the reviews on this first. Yeah… don’t buy it. It stings my eyes like crazy and smells like polish remover. Not gentle at all. It couldn’t even take off waterproof mascara. Thank God it was dirt cheap.

Jimmy Choo by Jimmy Choo Eau De Parfum (2 oz.)
Just received mine today in the mail. So excited to use this for nights out!
This perfume definitely isn’t meant for day time. It has strong notes of patchouli and toffee, which makes it very warm and seductive. It also has a bit of orchid and pear notes in it, I learned, which bring out the sweetness of it. Definitely comes off very intimidating when first sprayed, but when worn throughout the day you can really sense the more sexy, mature side of it. Very feminine and elegant.
I’ve seen a lot of reviews comparing it to Flowerbomb but I’d say it’s less sweet smelling. Jimmy Choo is deeper, and has more of an edge to it.
Estee Lauder Tom Ford Collection Face Highlighter - Coquillee (eBay or CCO)
Received mine last week. SO happy with this purchase. I’m in love with it. It’s a little too white/cool for my taste with face highlighters since my skin goes better with more goldeny highlights, but this one I can make an exception for.
When used with the right amount and blended well, it gives a beautiful dewy and luminous glow. It isn’t too sparkly or shimmery but rather gives just the nicest sheen to the face when it hits the light. It isn’t chalky at all.
The packaging is so elegant. I love the Tiffany blue and the gold accent. It comes with a nice big mirror and a little brush, which surprisingly isn’t that bad of quality.
You could also use this as a highlight for the browbone or tearduct, or even as a gorgeous all over lid color.
Excited to use this for Spring/Summer!

I just bought Soft Lips for $2.99(USD) and managed to catch it on a buy one get one free sale. I LOVE it! It works well and is worth the money. I say give it a try!
Any lip product with SPF is always a win for me. Still want to try these!
