Q:how do you get rid of pimples? besides drinking lots of water, lol. do you use a specific face wash? (proactive, neutragena.. etc)

Anonymous

I have a specific skin care regime, but I don’t use a face wash. Instead I use a scrub and masque. Every other day I use the St. Ives Naturally Clear Blemish & Blackhead Control Apricot Scrub, and once a week I use the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque. Make sure that your scrub and/or masque has at least %1 Salicylic Acid because it helps treat acne.

For my everyday skin care regime, I:

  1. Cleanse with Eskinol lemon facial cleanser (day & night)
  2. Tone w/ my Dickinson’s Witch Hazel (only for oily skin. For dry skin I recommend an alcohol-free toner)
  3. Moisturize with Neutrogena’s Oil-Free SPF 15 moisturizer
At night, I remove my makeup, repeat 1 & 2 and then moisturize with extra virgin olive oil and apply my eye cream.
Drinking tons of water daily helps keep your skin clear too!

Q:do you know any tricks or ways to minimize large pores? i used to get oil build ups a lot and would "pop" them (bad idea, i now know) and now some of my pores are really big and the only way i know how to hide them is through thick foundation and i dont wear that thick of makeup.

Buy a pore minimizing facial mask! The best one out there right now in drugstores in the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque, about $3-5. I also recommend Estee Lauder’s Idealist Dual-Action Refinishing treatment. It’s a duo that comes with a masque/exfoliator that helps opens and minimizes pores, and also a skin refinisher that smoothes out your skin’s surface and also minimizes the size of pores. I loved that treatment so much that I used it up until I ran out! But both products that I mentioned are basically my top recommendations. Also, cleansing and toning your face daily helps prevent oil build up and bacteria from spreading into your pores. (:
